Sorry for not keeping up!

First Dells Win in 07

Bad luck --or---Good Luck?

We started the night off with practice, only to have Mike come in and tell us that we had no oil pressure. We tried everything we could at the track but no luck, So we asked Joel Sorkenson and Al to borrow their car for the night. We just wanted to keep the points alive. And boy did that work out for us. Mike did not get any laps before the race in Joel's #53, so Mike had to use the heat race for a little practice. We started inside second row for the feature. Mike did not waste any time getting to the front. With a few yellows and a couple of good restarts, Mike was able to pull off the win in a borrowed race car. I am a little biased but Mike can drive just about anything! A great night for EHDE Racing....

Ohhh and we found the problem with our car. the oil pump pickup broke off and was laying in the pan. Got a new pump and pickup on the way. See you all Friday night at Madison....

The Dells Opening Night 4/21/07

What a night. What a crowd. I am not sure on the total number of fans but I have never seen that many fans at the Dells, ever! I think there was a lot of curiosity from a lot of people. Racers and fans alike. The car count showed that too! There were 37 Limited Late Models last night. With the likes of Brian Hoppe racing with us. Brian Hoppe set fast time with a 14.2 second lap in qualifying. We ended up with a 14.4 second lap which as it turns out was not a real great time. But we did get a good starting spot out of it. We started on the second row inside. Mike ran in the 3rd spot for a long time. And it was not easy, the competition behind us was not afraid to use their bumper. Mike got jacked up 4 or 5 times, but held on to it. A less experienced driver would not of faired so well I think. With about 10 to go Mike tried to make his move. He went high on the outside of the #5 car who I think was Tim Sauter. Mike made the pass stick as Sauter slipped up coming off of 4. Mike was in 2nd place with about 5 to go. He caught up to the #53 car of Joel Sorensson. Ran there for a couple of  laps and a couple of cautions. With only a few laps to go Mike started to work outside on the #53 car. Which can be deadly at the Dells. Mike got about half way up the side of Joel but could not make it stick. Now the trick is to get back down to finish second. Mike was able to gather it up and get back down to finish in the #2 spot. Excellent night again for Ehde Racing. We are not sure where we race next, I think we may go over to Madison to get some racing in for the next Big 8 Series race. Stay tuned!!!

Ehde Collects His First Big 8 Series Win!
By: Kevin Ramsell

Sunday, April 15, 2007 (Loves Park, IL) – Mike Ehde who is known as a quiet racer, raised his fist in the air as he exited his car as he captures his first Big 8 Series win. The Series competed in its first event of the season at the 30th Annual Spring Classic at the Rockford Speedway.

Photo Highlights

Rich Schumann Jr. was the early leader in the 58-lap feature event. Ehde, who started on the pole for the event, fell into second. Ehde would only follow Schumann for the first 7 laps. On lap 8, Ehde was able to get on the outside of Schumann coming out of turn four and was able to take over the top spot. Jason Schuler followed Ehde to take the second spot.

Fast qualifier, Jeremy Miller patiently moved from his 13th starting position and was running third by the halfway mark of the event.

Miller used the inside line to get past Schuler for second on lap 35 and set his sights on Ehde.

Miller kept trying to look on the inside of Ehde but couldn’t get the bite to get past him.

With two laps to go, the caution flew for Matt Byrne’s spin on the front stretch. This set up a two-lap battle between Ehde and Miller. Miller gave it the old college try, but at the checkers it was Ehde with the win.

Schuler would hold on to third with Bob Kahler and Chris Purdy rounding out the top five.

John Baumeister Jr. and Collin Bamke won the last chance races.

Miller set the fast time with a lap time of 13.803 seconds. Gille and Bilderback tied for second in time each had a lap of 18.858 seconds.

The Big 8 Series will be in action again on Friday, May 18 at Madison International Speedway. For more information on the Big 8 Series, please visit their website at www.big8series.com.
