2005 Rockford Spring Classic
Well the year started off with a bang. Let me try to list them all:
1) Bolt falls out of rear end.
2) Sheared off a set of quick change gears? This was a first for us.
3) Engine Blows up, Dropped a valve. On friday practice. Drove to Tomcats on friday night, got back to rockford 4 in the morning.
4) Master Cylinder bleeding by. Install New front master.
5) Bolts shear off of rear end brackets. Rear end rolls up under car.
6) Drive shaft Bent and Broken. Installed new one ....Thanks LEFTHANDER!!!
7) Broken shock on right rear.
8) Broken Ear on transmission. Leaking grease.
9) Master cylinder leaking. Changed out brass fitting.
10) Water Pump Belt broke off. Replaced belt
This all in one weekend!
Qualified with a 14.4 sec lap which put us 13th out of 34 cars. Not bad for not being able to work on the car all weekend.
Started 7th row inside for the feature. Mike drove a smart race and the car ran very well. We finished 10th in the feature. Not a bad weekend all things considered. Next weekend we are off to the Dells Motor Speedway.

Mike Ehde Wraps Up Season at Dells With A Win!
By Mike Olson
September 10, 2005; Wisconsin Dells, WI - Racing season is winding down at the Dells Motor Speedway. One more week will decide some very close point’s battles as the speedway is ready to crown the 2005 champions.
The Limited Late Model division had Beau Sanden, of Janesville, the R.A.CE.S. Poll Award winner with his time of 14.577 seconds. Larry Devito, of Camp Douglas, closed out the prior week with a checkered flag in the feature. Larry picked up where he left off, with a checkered flag, in the Supreme Awards Fast Heat. Carey John, of Montello, headed to victory lane in Heat #1.
The Limited Late Model feature had Joel Willman and Mike Ehde sitting on the pole. Ehde quickly shot out to the lead. Right after the first lap was completed, Jim Dunn got loose coming out of turn four. He slide sideways and found Rich Schumann tagging his car to straighten him out. Cars then scattered to avoid any further destruction. Eric Klawitter found himself pinned between others and lost the front of his machine. After some cleanup
and realignment, it was back to racing.
Mike Ehde immediately pulled away from the field. Joel Willman, in second place, tried to keep up but he was about to become busy with the cars behind him. Kurt Clapper worked around Steve Morgan for third, then started to reel in Willman. Ehde, meanwhile, was flying around the track and starting to put the tail of the field down a lap.
A caution flag on lap fourteen for debris slowed the action. Mike Ehde had past four slower cars, which now sit between him and second place runner, Joel Willman.
Ehde again had no problem pulling away from the pack at the green flag. Willman led the contingent around the lapped cars as they tried everything to close on the leader. A caution flag on lap nineteen, for a looping Ted Griffith, helped the cause. Mike Ehde continued to show his dominance when the green flag waved. Kurt Clapper worked around Joel Willman for second, but ran out of laps as Mike Ehde won feature number two. At the post race
interview, Mike said that he would not be able to attend the final week of racing and thanked the race fans for a fun year at the Dells speedway. Kurt Clapper, of Dane, finished second and is now within thirty-nine point’s of Beau Sanden for the season championship next Saturday. Joel Willman, of Adams was third with, Steve Morgan, of Mazomanie, fourth, and Joel Soenksen, of Baraboo, completing the top five.
